Yemeni girl cries little pebbles…not tears

She doesn’t shed a tear when she cries…instead she produces tiny pebbles just beneath her eyelids. A 12-year-old girl from a village in Yemen has left doctors speechless and locals fearing she may be ‘possessed’ by magic.

Yemeni television channel Azal has posted a video of Saadiya Saleh on YouTube documenting this bizarre phenomenon.

Footage shows the young girl lying on a hospital bed. Saadiya has doctors and relatives around her; one of whom being filmed brushing away a little stone out of her eye whenever she makes an attempt to cry.

A doctor can be seen holding up a small box in the video. It only takes a few hours for the box to be filled up with small pebbles that have fallen out of the girl’s eyes.

Doctors said the girl isn’t suffering from any known disease, Mirror reported. The fact that medics have yet not come up with any explanation for Saadiya’s condition, is making villagers suspect that this peculiar phenomenon marks the beginning of a dangerous epidemic.

“The case has triggered panic in the area where this girl lives… Some say the girl could be gripped by a magic spell while others say it might be the devil…,” a local presenter can be heard saying in the video.
